Healthy Tips for Truck Drivers

Truck Driver

Being a commercial truck driver can be a difficult career, especially if you choose to drive long distance routes. Our team at White’s International Trucks has put together a few helpful tips to help drivers stay healthy on the road.

1. Plan Your Meals

Meal planning from the cab of a truck may not be practical, but when you’re able to plan ahead you’ll give yourself better access to more nutritious meals. Even if you don’t pack your meals for every trip, you can come up with a game plan for places to stop and grab a bite to eat. Although it can feel more challenging to find restaurants with adequate parking space for large trucks, it’s worth the effort to choose healthier food options.

2. Get Plenty of Movement

Along with planning healthier meals, it’s important to find ways to get movement throughout your route. Make sure you stop often enough to stretch your limbs and walk around a little.

In the cab you can also get small amounts of movement by stretching your neck, arms, and legs!

3. Stay Hydrated

Although caffeine may often feel like a necessity and you may be hesitant to drink a lot of fluids, it’s really important to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. Being hydrated contributes to your general health and helps your overall circulation. This is especially important when you have to sit for long periods of time!
